Luca Calani is a post-doctoral research fellow at the Laboratory of Phytochemical in Physiology on Department of Food Science of University of Parma (Italy).
His research is focused on the investigation of (poly)phenolic compounds in edible plants, by-products and food supplements, and then on the study the biotransformation and absorption of these compounds in the gastrointestinal tract.
Luca has graduated in Food Science and Technology at the University of Parma, and he spent his Ph.D. working on polyphenols from several viewpoints, including new dietary polyphenol sources and the metabolic fate and bioavailability of polyphenols in humans.
